The leaves or needles can vary in size, but they are generally of a pleasant and symmetrical shape, adding to the aesthetics of the tree. In some cases, the roots of the Kanjo bonsai may be partially exposed, enhancing the wild and natural aspect of the tree.

All these elements aim to capture the appearance of a tree that has grown under difficult conditions, which gives the Kanjo style a rustic, full of character, and artistically expressive look.
