Ginepro Chinensis Sargentii varietà Kishu è la varietà di Juniperus che fra tutte è quella che ha la foglia più compatta in assoluto. Una volta fatto crescere si otterranno dei palchi con vegetazione molto fitta. Si utilizza soprattutto per bonsai di piccole dimensioni come mame e shohin. Cresce bene sia in ombra che in pieno sole.
Il Kishu è chiamato così per via della città in cui è stato scoperto che si trova a sud-ovest del Giappone. Anche il ginepro di questa varietà ha un colore verde brillante, simile all’Itoigawa, il suo fogliame è molto denso, compatto e massiccio. Comparando lo Shimpaku con il Kishu, è come paragonare il pino nero giapponese con la varietà Yatsubusa, che presenta fogliame più leggero, intenso e compatto. Il Kishu è spesso usato per innesti per rimpiazzare altre varietà, perché più piacevole, più fitto, cresce più compatto e il suo colore è verde brillante. Il suo fogliame cresce in folti ciuffi lungo i rami, la corteccia è rossa, simile allo Shimpaku.
