Pinus pungens, Table Mountain Pine; a small, hardy pine tree native to the Appalachian Mountains, known for its twisted, irregular shape, short needles in bundles of two, and distinctive, spiny cones that often remain closed until opened by fire (serotinous). It thrives on dry, rocky ridges. Seedlings often have a basal crook similar to shortleaf pines. Needles and pine cones are similar to vergina pine but slightly bigger.

Slowly died during summer heat. It had same amount of water and type of soil as other one purchases at the same time. This one got more shade. Attributing death to not getting enough hours of direct sunlight during late spring.
