The Han-Kengai style
Semi-cascade style

The Han-Kengai bonsai style is characterized by a trunk that gracefully inclines, evoking the image of a tree growing on a steep slope or at the edge of a cliff. This inclined trunk gives the bonsai a dynamic and elegant appearance. The main branches of the Han-Kengai extend horizontally from the trunk, then begin to descend forming gentle curves downwards, thus creating a silhouette that resembles a waterfall frozen in time.

The leaves or needles of the Han-Kengai bonsai are generally small and fine, and they are distributed evenly along the inclined branches. This adds to the aesthetics of the waterfall by creating an impression of lightness and delicacy.

The roots of the Han-Kengai bonsai are well developed and firmly hold the tree in its pot, despite the trunk's inclined position.

In summary, the Han-Kengai style evokes an image of vitality and grace, akin to a tree that grows elegantly on a steep slope.
